I've been waiting for this day since I found out in December that I was in the Chicago marathon, training finally begins!
Its been a hard few months, what with saving for my trip, working a second job, keeping my running going and looking after my boys, but I'm so pumped for training!!
I've gone with Hal Higdon again, and just done novice 2. I'm going to shoot for 4 hours 30 minutes as that was my target last year which I got nowhere near. If I can hit near that time I'll be happy.
The second job has been packed in, I've got a good habit going with strength training and nutrition, so fingers crossed it all goes well. Oh and I've purchased a bike so I can cross train, should arrive on Wednesday!

I've kept quiet about it but it looks like the cat is out of the bag now. One of the few advantages of getting old is that good for age times are much more achievable. Hope the training goes well.
Wow..all go and so exciting ...cycling is going to be great fun too.Keep that energy buzz going...but remember to be kind to yourself too, when necessary xx
Wow Looklikejames, that’s brilliant! What an experience that is going to be. Hard to beat London but that will certainly give it, literally, a run for its money! Good luck with your training 👍
Thank you! I'd be surprised if chicago matches London to be honest, but I'm still very excited to go as it will be great. The only thing that will dampen things a bit is that I'm not going to miss my family for the four nights but hopefully it'll be OK
