Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. It's fabulous to see everyone's training updates each week!
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Let us know how your training, running, racing is going - did you try something you havenβt before? Got a new PB? Got some gossip to share ? Tell us about it here....
Have a wonderful week, and happy Panthering,

Hi Ali. Ta for the update π. I read his report of his first Brighton marathon. It was really funny π
Did he get injured? It seems so strange to just drop it completely when he was so committed to it. Anyway if you text him, tell him weβre thinking about him π
knee trouble but not sure he got to the bottom of it! Really hope he ghets back to it one day, yes i told him he was getting a mention and we all missed him on here
I've been really lucky - depending on how you look at things. I've had very little work for the past few weeks, which isn't great for my wallet, considering I'm self-employed. Instead I've been able to focus on mentally preparing myself for the weekend's big event, which has been great. My heel isn't quite there yet, but it doesn't look like it's going to be a problem on Sunday.
This Sunday I got a high-five from Paul Sinton-Hewitt (Mr Parkrun), the race starter for the Brighton Marathon. I shall be expecting the same from the Queen next weekend!
There's a lot of new posts on here at the moment, so I thought I'd limit my race report to the weekly chat, sorry misswobble
Having not run for almost three weeks (because of the sore soleus muscle in my left leg), I was nervous to find out what running would be like yesterday, but Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" got me running happily to join my corral, and then The Chemical Brothers' "Hey Boy! Hey Girl!" made me feel like something of a badass as we started to file out to the starting arch.
I enjoyed the music a lot this year, heard the Queen song three times in total (including one from a choir), and another highlight was the steel band on New Church Road playing "Funky Town" It was fun having my name on my top, with everyone shouting Go Abi! And I saw my neighbour filming me, and my husband was a couple of km from the finish (he doesn't like the crowds).
But gentle reader, I went out far too fast! At one point I was running with the 4 hour pacers, which was ridiculous. I think I may have forgotten the feel of my paces during my break. Although I was taking in the sights and sounds around me, I was also kind of in a trance, and the race seemed to fly by...
...until about mile 18 or so, when I really started to flag, and my leg got quite ouchy. By the "Power Station" section of the course my pace had dropped considerably. I have recently renamed this section "Mordor", but only because the chimney of the power station reminds me of the Eye of Sauron - I actually usually enjoy running over there! But this time I was struggling and it didn't seem so much fun. Anyway, I made it through the rest of the run (with a few short walk breaks), and managed a sprint to the finish - got a nice airborne photo too!
Chip time: 4:24:31. The weather was much cooler than last year, and it even rained while I was getting my bag back. They were giving out free pints of non-alcoholic wheat beer (isotonic), which most people (including me) were only having a couple of sips of. The goody bag was meh, but the organisation generally was excellent.
Some photos (including one of the medal) are on my Instagram:
It was amazing how quickly they got us running considering how many of us there were! I was hanging around towards the back of my corral (I was in the 3:30-4:00 hour one so I wanted to keep out of the way) thinking I still had a bit of a wait, but wondering why everyone kept marching past me. Realised they were actually leaving the corral!
Travelling down on Friday but as I want to spend a bit of time at expo then going Saturday morning. Aiming to get there shortly after it opens - so hopefully it wonβt be too busy lol. Good luck x
Well after Sundays duathlon in Leeds I thought it better to have a quiet restfull week. So Monday went out for a practice on my race bike followed that same evening with a training session with my local Tri Club. But I have now s l o w e d down I promise.
