If you entered the ballot for the London Marathon 2018, how did it go?
Congratulations if you got in. Commiserations if you didn't.
I got the dreaded Sorry magazine and nice long-sleeved running top. The top feel a bit thinner than last year's. Although it has a few reflective details, it is black (again). Who came up with the brilliant idea of making a top for running on low-light dark, gloomy winter days or evenings black?!

That's brilliant roseabi ! I can remember the day I got the 'right' magazine in 2015, ready for last year. It was a combination of shock and excitement! Can't wait to hear about your training.
Oh bad luck Tomas ! 🙁 No news here as yet, but after a summer of injury I would have a lot of work to do if I do get in...preparing myself for a Sorry magazine (although still secretly hoping for a pink bunny magazine!)🙂
Sorry you didn't get in, Tomas. And congrats to you roseabi . What an experience! I'm not even considering the distance and think you are both incredibly tough to be running marathons - London or no London!
I didn't get in either Tomas, but if I finish sub 6 hours in this Sunday's Yorkshire marathon I will get good for age entry for London 2019 and will not need to enter the bloody ballot ever again!
I'd need a sub 3.15 (might be a little longer now I've hit the big 50), I did a 1.30 half last year but had a foot op since so had to cancel a few marathons. Still waiting for my yay or nay.
I couldn't hack those crowds or bother with the logistics of the planning and organisation for such an event, and take my hat off to those who can and do 🙂
I still close my eyes and stick my fingers in my ears when anyone talks about marathons. Congratulations, roseabi , and commiserations to you, Tomas, although I'm sure you'll find another one to shine in
I've just got the, ladies 'sorry' top - I do like it, just my type of thing as a base layer for the winter..........think I'm a bit relieved actually.............secretly a tiny, tiny, tiny bit disappointed 😉.......although OH hasn't got his response yet........and if he gets in, I just might have to go into battle for a charity place.......😳😱
This running lark sure is mad crazy.......😜......what on earth has happened to me......
Thanks Sandra, not sure about that........the thought of all the training really scares me.....but who knows, by the time it opens again next year.........😉
Yes, that was certainly a rush of blood to the head after watching it etc., not something I’ve ever had the desire to do, not on my bucket list, but if I was going to do it, it’d have to be London......just the thought of the training makes me feel ill 🤢
Thanks Eatcakeandrun. I knew the odds were against me, so as well as entering the London ballott, I also signed up for Paris (also in April). So training will commence as planned
I didn't get the magazine in post just by email. Didn't get in, was my 1st year trying though! I think good for age might be possible in another year, gives me something to aim for at Manchester marathon or another one, even though its a bit optimistic! So now will start looking for a marathon! HM a week on Sunday
Email rejection received today🙁 - slightly relieved if I'm honest (although I would have been wildly excited if I'd got in!) 🤗Well done to those who were successful - I will try again next year!
OH didn’t get in either so there is a sigh of relief in this household 😂........really not sure if I’d try again, we love our 10k’s and have the HM’s as the challenge.......
If I was going to do one it would have to be London.......
Thanks hon, this one is going to be done in stages, one water station at a time........😂.......lord knows how long it’ll take me........I’m just hoping to get within the 3 hour cut off time.....🚶♀️🐌
I applied when basking in the glow of a longish run that had gone slightly well. Once my application was in I was relieved by comments from friends that I wouldn't get a place - it takes YEARS I was told. And I didn't actually get a place in the ballot - but then won a bloody place because I had said they could keep my sodding fee if I didn't get in.
Wowsers! Good luck to you! I don’t think I could hack the training, so secretly I am more than relieved at not getting a place..... so hats off to you......i am in awe of anyone who manages a marathon.
