As some of you are aware, we have a rolling 6 week quest over on C25k and I want to 'test the water' here.
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks.
You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
Some goal suggestions:
To run X times a week✔️
To slowly increase distance✔️
To train for a specific race✔️
To add In Stretch and strength exercises✔️
Aim for a new 5, 10, HM or marathon PB ✔️
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.
Good Luck everybody !

Hi Ju-ju my week has gone well. I have finally filled in the form and signed up officially for my new running club and added them to my parkrun profile and to a 10k race I've entered for 2 weeks time. Yet to get my t-shirt but hopefully will be able to pick it up tomorrow I also managed another sub-30min parkrun, this time a bit faster 29:37, and overall did 3 runs for the whole week. Just need to keep the 3 runs per week going and get the t-shirt and my quest is complete
I have a race plan for one race but am pulling in another one this weekend, a 10k trail race. Been going slower on my planned "fast" training runs as my Achilles has been painful. Had a rest for several days, did a hatchet job on my running shoes and am feeling better🙂
I can report progress. Because of my holiday, I had to deviate a bit from my training plan, but I have managed to do all my fast interval runs since we started this quest, and my pace is definitely picking up. I'm still having trouble judging my pace, so my husband and I ended up doing one of the intervals far too fast last week, which really wore me out, but it looks like I'm slowly getting there.
Judging pace is so hard! A few times now I have been thinking that I must be having an off-day, or that I have somehow lost fitness (why I would think that I don't know!), when it turns out I've been running faster than I thought I was. I still won't cave in and buy a running watch though!
I use a phone app to look at after the run, and I try to remember how I felt and write it down. It's more work, but I just don't like the idea of being nagged by a watch
Now that Paris is done, I plan on focusing on my 5k time (seriously need to get back to sub 30) and also have a 10k trail run coming up, so lots of intervals and hill sprints (combined with 1 long run a week as I plan a half marathon a month this year).
Hi all, not too bad this week, have had to change my run day due to other things...... still on track. Went out for a 10k and a bit.....cross country/ trail this morning, was planning on a 12-15k, but have snuck in a 10k 'race' for next Sunday.....😉 (Was going to be marshalling but only needed for set up so can run....👍)
Plus will be parkrunning as usual on Saturday, slow and steady is the plan, but happily steadily clocking up the miles....☺️ , ready for the Wings for life run.
You're clocking up those miles for Wings For Life much more quickly than me Madge. I did 2x 7k and 10.5k last week. This week it's 2x 7k and 12.5k. We'll have to decide where to meet up before the race - doubt there's much chance of meeting by chance given how big the event is.
Hi there lovely, well it doesn't mean they're fast.....far from it! I normally only run twice a week, and we were meant to be marshalling at the event on Sunday, still helping out but the option to run came up......be rude not to....😬 And you're certainly not slacking!
It's Parkers Piece the run (WFL) goes from.
Parkside - one of the roads next to the green has the fire station, cop shop, and Parkside Community College down it.......so we could use one of those as our landmark to meet.
Still seems a long way away at the moment, bet it'll come round soon enough though!
Parkside it is then! Funnily enough the race seems worryingly close to me, maybe because I'm following a plan, so I can see the number of runs before the race counting down each week 😱😱
Good luck with that Ju ☺ i don't know why but I feel better able to haul my ass quicker round a 10 k easier than a 5k. A fast 5k is blooming exhausting. Could be an age thing 😊
I cut a wedge shaped piece out of the back of my kinvara's to stop rubbing on my painful Achilles. I cut the heel bit out of my glycerine and bunged it under the insole of the kinvara to raise my heel and slightly
I hope you are over your arduous race! It must take it out of you quite a bit.
