*New* Race and Training Quest Week 1 ✔️

As some of you are aware, we have a rolling 6 week quest over on C25k and I want to 'test the water' here.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks.

You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

Some goal suggestions:

To run X times a week✔️

To slowly increase distance✔️

To train for a specific race✔️

To add In Stretch and strength exercises✔️

Aim for a new 5, 10, HM or marathon PB ✔️

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.

    I have a 10k trail race coming up on 23 April

    A very hilly 10k race " on 14 May

    Cardiac Hill Race on 21 May

    So, my focus is on training using my local Tricky Trail to build myself up.

  • Thanks Ju-Ju, count me in please, I've got the Wings for Life world run in Cambridge on 7th May - it's the one where the finish line comes to you, you get 30 mins head start then the 'catcher car' starts on the course and slowly builds up speed until all runners are 'caught'

    I managed 7.5k last year, in very hot conditions......I'd like to beat that if possible, so will be planning (amongst some 10k 'races' I've got booked) to increase my distance in training to at least 15k.

    So Madge50 - increase total distance managed in Wings for Life World Run 7th May (target to beat 7.5k)

    AncientMum is doing it too, so she may be interested in setting a goal......👍

    I would like to increase my interval pace so that I'm much closer to the paces my training app wants me to run. For example, last week my app wanted me to run 5 x 2 minutes at 5:28. I managed one or two at this pace, and then my interval pace was higher each time after that. I basically want to find that next gear!

  • I like that goal, and that sounds doable for you too :)

  • My aim for the 6 weeks is to get my parkrun 5k time down to 28 something :)

  • It varies... my 5k PB is 26.39, but my Parkrun PB is 28.48 as its a giant hill!!!! I did it last week in 29.40 so its all doable?

  • Count me in too please JJ. I've got the Wings for Life run with Madge50 in May so, in a spirit of optimism, I'm starting a 10mile Asics plan. I won't have time to complete it before the race but want to nudge my distance up beyond 10k beforehand. Gotta start increasing the distances if I'm going to be doing the HM in September.

  • Can I join please? I don't often post on here as I'm yet to enter a race but I need a focus. Here are my quests:

    Fully sign up and keep going to my new running club on Tuesdays and Thursdays and get a club t-shirt

    Also run on either Sat (parkrun) or Sun making it 3x/week

    Get my parkrun 5k back down to 30min something or less.

  • Great goals, all doable, and you don't have to run races to post here.... I think having a focus is perfect for reaching our goals... 😎

  • It's the closest I've got so far! I've found out my running club does 6-weekly 2.5mile time trials too :)

  • feeling a bit goalless at the moment recovering from my first marathon...not quite sure what to do next. Not going to rush things though 1) recover from marathon 2) think what to do next 3) do it! . Keep it simple that's what i'm thinking. I might also try and put a bit more fun into my running for a while.
