Hi I wonder if anyone has an answer to this, my eyes have been stable since Nov '23, so I have been attending the stable clinic, my last scan was June 10th, I received a letter with the results of this scan yesterday, and it said that I have a large PED with small pockets of SRF. the also said that they will be monitoring it , they have booked an appointment for July 6th. Thank you

I maybe asking too much
hi, just wondering what help you need as not sure of the question
I would phone the clinic and ask what these medical terms mean. Or your optician. No wonder you are baffled. All the best to you.
it is apparently part of AMD . I have just googled it
I would consider phoning the clinic and asking what the terms mean. Best wishes.
Thank you all for your reply's When I find out what it all means I will let you all know, then if some-one else asks what these terms mean, we will have an answer. All keep safe.
Dear roynett,
PED stands for retinal pigment epithelial detachment and is a common manifestation in both dry and wet types of AMD. PED refers to the separation of two cell layers at the back of the eye; the retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) and Bruch's membrane. This is thought to be caused by various processes including changes in the thickness and permeability of these cell layers resulting in a build up of fluid and waste deposits between them, in turn forcing them apart. SRF refers to subretinal fluid. You will be able to discuss any treatment options at your upcoming appointment, but do call the clinic if you are concerned in the meantime.
