Hello. I have intermediate dry AMD in both eyes. I was diagnosed two years ago at age 65. My retina specialist told me all I can do is take Areds 2, drink grape juice or a glass of red wine every day and exercise. Does anyone have any other suggestions or advice you have been told from a professional? I don’t have symptoms yet and I’d like it to stay that way.

Advice needed for dry AMD
Oh, yes!
Any time you go outdoors (even in a car), wear sunglasses that block 99-100% of both kinds of UV light. Get the wrap-around kind to keep light from coming in the side. Grey or amber glasses distort color less than the brown ones. This is as important as what you eat, if not more so.
There is some difference of opinion about the need for blue light -blocking glasses for computer work.
If you smoke, stop. Smoking damages all sorts of cells, including retinal cells.
In the US, blueberries are the miracle food. I think no one food is magic. It's more sensible to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, the brighter colored the better. One health-food site said to eat 25 different veggies each week. That's 3.5 different ones a day.
I don't think I could even name 25!Quite a challenge, but possible.
