Debris in eye

Hi friends, I have wet AMD in both eyes and deemed partially sighted. My left eye is hand movement only. My right eye recently had laser treatment to clear the debris caused from the condition. My peripheral vision was very blurry in both eyes due to the debris. My consultant would not laser the left eye because he said was too unstable. I have a disci form scar in that eye. I don’t understand why the debris cannot be cleared, because it would give me better peripheral vision in that eye, what difference does it make, I’m nearly blind in that eye anyway. I have asked many times, with the same answer, he does not seem to want to expand on his reason. Has anyone else been told this. Thank you.

Hi Whitegoose.

I don't really know but, it seems that he should do the left eye as well, what do you have to loose? Would you say that the laser procedure was pretty routine? Was the debris in the center of the eye? Maybe you should consult with another ophthalmologist.

I also have wet AMD in both eyes. My left eye recently developed a dark spot in the center of the eye that always stays in front of where the eye moves. If I want look to the left, the spot goes with the rotation, always blocking the view of the eye altogether. I am meeting my ophthalmologist next week and plan on talking to him about the use of a laser.

Hello Joe, thanks for replying, if you have had a cataract removed, after a time condensation builds up at the back of the replacement lens and with debris from the bleeds I’ve had at the back of the eye, the peripheral view becomes fog like. The laser clears the fog. But because my really bad eye has hand movement only, plus the fog, he said the eye is too unstable to laser it. Laser treatment cannot remove the grey spot in the middle of the eye, only the peripheral fog, but as you say what have I got to loose if he does the bad eye. I will try and get a second opinion.
