Best Kindle or other e reader?

Hi guys, I have stuck with paper books despite having WMD. But the time has come I think to finally purchase an e reader. Does anyone have any helpful tips? I essentially want it to read in bed, and I do also have concerns re its effects on my eyes.

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Sian

Hi Sian

I've used kindles for years. I switch the background to dark mode, and find this better for my eyes.

The font size can be changed as well. To whatever size you are comfortable with.

There are a number of audio books that work on the kindle. I've not tried them. But it's nice to have the option. If my eye sight does deteriorate enough.

I also subscribe to kindle unlimited. I read 2 to 3 books a week, and find it excellent value.

Hope this info is useful

Phil

I use a kindle app on an ipad. This suits me well as the screen is a bit bigger than a kindle or kindle fire. The screen resolution is pretty good too.Because I use my ipad instead of a laptop or pc, this offsets the extra cost of the ipad.

I also use the ipad instead of a tv, it’s easier for me to watch than a normal telly.

Thank you, thats a really good point. I'll dig out my old iPad and see how that feels.

I too use the Kindle app on an iPad, as others have said it's a bit bigger than a standard Kindle, and I find it easier to adjust brightness and contrast, I too use dark mode (white print on black background)

I've used a Kindle Paperwhite for years now and love it. Couldnt go back to hard copy books!

I can read your post but the replies are all far to faint for me to read.

I have had a couple of Kindle readers but as my sight got worse they were no longer suitable. I love the lightness of them for reading in bed.

I now use ipads. I have a mini by my bed, mainly because it is lighter to hold. When not in bed I use the standard size iPad. This is what I would really recommend. It is far superior to kindle. I do have the Kindle App for books but mostly I use my library BorrowBox App. Thousands of ebooks and audiobooks. You can do so much with accessibility. I know Apple is not cheap but anything that helps your eyesight is worth it.

I have lost central vision in one eye and the other is badly damaged from AMD.

Good luck. Now you know what to put on your Xmas list!

Strange I can now see others replies.

Looks like iPad is favourite. I also watch any TV on iPad. We have quite a large tv but I would have to stand with my nose nearly touching the screen to see it. What would we do without the tech we have now!
