a small portion of the glass is cut out at the bottom of the glass. Can the cut be made on the side of the glass where your sight is the clearest. No central vision in left eye but left side is good.

I havent seen that but I have invested in more expensive occupational varificals where the area you look through is much bigger than cheaper varifocals. They cost over £300 compared to £45 for supermarket varifocals but worth every penny as Ive been able to keep my job post macular hole surgery.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. No central vision and right side of left eye, the left side is quite clear that was why I was wondering if what vision I have left could be enhanced.
Whilst sight is relatively good, then individuals can generally manage with varifocals or bifocals if preferred. However, if there becomes any noticeable impact to sight, then generally single vision lenses are preferable; separate for close up and distance vision. It is also generally easier to use magnifiers in conjunction with single vision lenses.
Thank you for taking the time to reply Rosalyn. I should have been a little more specific.I lost central vision because I signed up for the Avastin trial at M.R.E.H.
more than ten years ago which has left me with (for want of a better word) a clear strip on the left of my eye. This strip I was hoping to enhance.
With the top left quarter of the right eye that is my clarity.
Good news though, my appointment for assessing as to whether I can have cataract removal on both eyes has arrived, 16th Nov; Withington Hospital.
