Hi Eyecloud. We are not qualified to give information like that but you should check with your consultant. Also, the Macular Society may be able to help you with that.

Do check with doctor. I had the vaccine with no problem and also had shingles this year! Still have to watch out for it!

Dear Eyecloud,

You need to check on this with the medical professionals involved.

Something to be aware of is that it is usually necessary to leave 7 days between any different types of injection and your injection for wet AMD.

Kind regards,

Rosalyn

Hi Rosalyn. Just an afterthought - when you say "Something to be aware of is that it is usually necessary to leave 7 days between any different types of injection and your injection for wet AMD." - are you referring to the vaccines (Covid, Flu etc) or all types of injections? I ask because I have weekly injections of Methotrexate and have been for over two years now.

Hello springcross,

I was primarily referring to vaccines such as those for Covid-19 and flu. I am unsure if this would apply to the shingles injection referred to, hence signposting back to the medical professionals.

It is always best to check with the ophthalmologist. However, this is what we have recently been advised.

In terms of Methotrexate, if you are at all unsure, again, just check with your ophthalmologist.

Kind regards,

Rosalyn

Hi Eyecloud. I have wet AMD for which I have Eyelea injections.I had the shingles jab and pneumonia jab some years ago now, without any problem. Guess it’s a good idea to ask your eye consultant what they think .
