Have tried posting this on HealthUnlocked but for some reason won’t send.
Hi had surgery for Epiretinal Membrane last October a couple of weeks ago I noticed my vision had become more blurry and distorted I got an appointment with my optician and had an OCT scan which revealed fluid behind the eye he referred me back to my surgeon who I have an appointment with next week has anybody else had this and if so what treatment did you have.
Thanks

Hi I had fluid behind my good eye which was causing distorted vision. I now have periodic eylea injections which has caused the fluid to reduce. I was having 3 month injections but now going every 4 months and hopefully this will be extended even to a longer period in-between. Although the injections aren't nice it is over very quickly, the staff are great, and if it maintains my vision it's worth it. Hope you get yours sorted, take care.
HiI was reading your post with interest. It sounds similar to my situation. I've had quite a bit of surgery due to a detached retina. Which was detected in January.
My vision has returned to anything like it was before. It is blurry. The surgeon told me that the Macula had lifted slightly after the second operation, and fluid had got into it.
He has told me nothing can be done. The sight in that eye will not improve.
Hi went to see my surgeon he said there was fluid and inflammation in the eye so he has started me on a six week course of Prednisone drops and Bromfenac drops and two weeks of
Acelazolamide tablets for two weeks he will then do another OCT scan and decide where to go from there. Can’t believe he has said nothing can be done.
You can ask your existing consultant or your gp to refer you for a second opinion on the nhs. You may have to travel though. Moorfields in London and Bristol eye hospital were both recommended to me by my gp.My hubby used a private guy ( Professor Simon Taylor) who was excellent and I'd have no hesitation recommending him but he's in Guildford.
A private opinion will generally cost about £150 i think but research them and choose wisely. Private or NHS there will be some docs better than others and specialists in certain fields, not all are the same level of "expert".
Thanks eyes right. I've started to search locally. The only real option I've found is a spire hospital. It looks like I will have to look further a field.
I have thought about going back to my optician. To see if there is anyone they could recommend.
I know the cost is going to be high going privately. But I feel I have no other option.
It maybe there is nothing more that can be done. I just have to make sure the surgeon was correct in what he was saying
Hi after I had chosen my surgeon I looked at reviews on doctify also asked my GP. Hope you find somebody even if the result is the same it will give you peace of mind.
Don’t know anyone there I’m in Cheshire I ended up going private after being misdiagnosed with nhs who said I had wet macular degeneration and endured 3 Lucentis injections which I didn’t need. Hope you find someone to give you a second opinion I think it is very important.
I've had 4 operations to fix a detached retina. They've fixed the detached retina, and I've had a cataract done as well. Which the operations have caused.
All done on the NHS. I'm keen to have a 2nd opinion on the macula. I'm sure the surgeon will be correct. I just feel more comfortable with a 2nd opinion.
