Someone on here said that a man injecting their eye had rubbed the injection site straight after. I couldn’t believe this but on Friday this happened to me. What was worse is he didn’t use enough anaesthetic so it hurt I blinked and had a blood shot eye as a consequence. I asked for more anaesthetic in right eye and injection was fine but again he rubbed my eye after. My eyes felt quite bruised after.
Before I left I said the last person (whom I named) who did my injections was the best! The nurse said laughing you can’t say that to the doctor but I thought why not, and why not learn from the best? It should surely be a matter of pride that they offer the most pain free experience! And what is the rubbing about..?i

On the whole I find the nurse practitioner injectors are better than the doctors. Maybe because they are the specialists and doing the job all the time whereas the doctors are completing myriad tasks. I had quite a job last time convincing the doctor that I am intolerant of iodine but he conceded in the end. As we all know it is very stressful going for these jabs and although we are extremely grateful to be still having them in lockdown, I agree with you Catseye that knowing what works for patients can only help .
Afraid I’ve had bad experience with nurse practitioner. She is sooo sweet and patient sooo reassuring and soo slow that she actually delivers the injection slowly and I’ve never come away without blood shot eyes! When she introduced herself again my heart sank. My preference is friendly efficient and relatively fast. The ones who’ve left me bloodshot have asked if I’m on blood thinners and then used that as an excuse as to why it’s happened!
I totally agree with you about injectors ...the consultant said they are all trained by him, ..well, their not all on same page ...but they' re not told about their mistakes ...x
Wonder if we could produce something - dos and don’ts from the patients perspective? I’ll say one thing for the ‘eye rubber’ is he didn’t use clips to keep eye open - just the sticky wide tape which I prefer ...although he ripped that away very quickly ...surprised I’ve got eyebrows!
I'm ok with clamp as long as their gentle....I dont have the "sticky cape" took my eyelashes once , ....but injector 2 months ago stuck it to front of hair...even the nurses were cringing when it was taken off ......bood idea about do's and don'ts ..wont go down well in my clinic though sad to say...perhaps PALS could help 👍
I think it was me , but the injector rubbed my eyeball with her finger before the injection not after, she said it would help with pain of injection ....I've never had pain when injecting in 6 and half yrs...x
