Good Afternoon Waddington,

The black spot people see after injections can last up to 48 hours. If it persists after this, contact your eye clinic,

Best Wishes,

Becky

Hi Waddington,

There was a thread about this all-too-common issue last month. I am pasting the url below. I’m wondering if it would be a good idea to have his under “topics” with an appropriate title as it comes up so often? It can be quite alarming the first time if you don’t know the cause. Just remember that sudden _multiple_ floaters are a different issue and need to be reported to eye clinic straight away.

Hi Waddington. I think this is quite common, it certainly has been with me on more than one occasion, even seeing black polo mints and round dots the size of the o in the word polo. If it persists, however, do as Becky advises and contact your eye clinic. Good luck. x

Thanks

Hi waddington, the inj fluid itself can sometimes be seen for a while afterwards (I've had the same polo effect as springcross) but usually clears after a couple of days. Actual floaters can hang around much longer and can be a side effect of the inj.( I had them before 1st inj and more after, all disappeared after cataract op, probably sucked out with the flushing, but some returned with next inj and took a few weeks to settle) But any new ones/increase in number should be reported to your eye clinic for advice.

I have an annoying floater too. I have been having injections for over 3 yrs and always floaters have disappeared if I got any. I rang my eye clinic and they said not to worry but let us know if you have flashes or increase in what I call a tiny spec that moves as I look around. Sometimes I am not aware of it but I also feel my eye is slightly irritated. I never had this before with my regular nurse. It's been nearly 3 weeks now and I still have it.

Having had many injections over several years, I occasionally got floaters but they never lasted more than a day or two. But I did feel silly because I kept swatting away imaginary flies 😄.

The floaters are quite common, I have them as well , my retina specialist did not seemed concerned. Hopefully they will dissipate. Take care .
