Just been told I have macula denigrating

Diagnosed with macula denigrating yesterday by my option she said I was a little young so is doing a referral to the hospital plus to eat more vegetables and make sure I wear sunglasses

But said nothing else on the condition

Hi there . It's weird that the opticians didn't say whether you have dry macular degeneration or wet. Hopefully you get an appointment at the eye clinic quite soon so they can do tests and tell you what you have and which treatment if you have the wet type .there are injections for the wet type.

Thank you for your replies I didn't know there was two different types until I spoke to my sister

Was told that the hospital appointment was not urgent and could take a few months so I'm hoping it's the dry

I contacted opticians today to try find out more information, the lady I saw at my eye test didn't put any thing other then macula degeneration on my notes.

I was told a referral letter had gone out within the guidelines and I should hear from the hospital shortly

Check each eye with the Amsler grid (online). If grid is distorted, it is urgent that you see an ophthalmologist ASAP. Untreated wet macular degeneration (wetAMD) will cause you to lose the central vision in that eye.
