So it's been just over a month since I had my implant put in and unfortunately not had a good reaction.
Luckily I go to two different hospitals for checks ups (local and another I was diagnosed at) few weeks ago had a routine check up at my local and doctor was shocked to see my eye pressure had shot up to over 60!! Said he was surprised I wasn't being physically sick with it being so high!
I'd been having headaches and nose bleeds etc but unfortunately it's hard for me to tell what's caused by what as I tend to suffer with headaches anyway.
Anyway been having lots of appointments and been closely monitored and my eye pressure came right down to 13 after being prescribed eye drops and tablets.
Unfortunately had another check up today and eye pressure has shot back up to 32 doctor has prescribed even stronger drops and keep with tablets. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Feeling lousy in myself (not sure if medication) and looking forward to implant dissolving!

I know of a Danish patient with a slightly different condition arising from treatment for eye cancer who is experiencing similar issues with his IOP rising and falling despite the use of drops. He has been offered surgery for glaucoma but because of potential complications arising from the cancer another doctor has refused surgery. He is caught between a rock and a hard place.
Yeah a very hard situation for him doesn't sound like they've gave him many options! Has this just happened after he's received treatment for the cancer?
I was successfully treated for eye cancer about 3 years ago I wonder if thats a factor with my bad reaction to the steroid implant. Hoping that once the implant has dissolved the eye pressure problem will go away
The Danish patient has developed glaucoma as a direct result of plaque brachytherapy to treat the choroidal melanoma.
Sadly, glaucoma is a major factor arising from Ozurdex as is cataract. many of us with eye cancer will develop cataract as a consequence of the radiation. Happily, that is readily treatable in most instances. Glaucoma can be more problematic and does not always respond favourably to treatment.
As a OM patient are you aware of OcuMel UK the only UK eyecancer charity? Access and membership, is free for patients and family.
Sorry to hear this. My iop raised with antivegf inj but was controlled with timolol. Then had a number of implants which pushed it up again. I don't know what my doc would have done as didn't get another implant due to the manufacturing probs so been back on eyelea. My review is due next month so will see then. Hope you get sorted OK.
