First ozurdex implant done 8 weeks ago, check up shows no leakage at the back of my eye. Only problem was eye pressure 28, i have eye drops to use each evening to correct that. Just wondering how long this will work, i have to go back to the eye clinic in 14 weeks time.

Great news harrymole. Glad it's working for you. I take the drops too and they work well also.

It's impossible to say how long the implant works - everyone is different. You may need just this one and be sorted for good, or you may need more.

As a general guide I was told it works over 3-6 months hence your check up at 22 wks.

My Dr says as long as there is some initial improvement after each implant they will give me more if I need them so it ought to be the same for you. Fingers crossed you won't need another though!

Dear eyesright. You are a fund of knowledge. I asked about implant and was told injections are the only means of combatting wet macular. Is this only the nhs or does it depend on the area you live in. Regards, shimano

Hi shimano, I can only relate what my doc told me, which was that steroid implants(eg ozurdex) wont work for wetmd as the cause of the problem is different.

Have a look at the macular society website, they have guidance on different conditions and treatment options. X

Thanks eyesright. Will check out that website. Watching news. Closing homeless shelters now. This is a different level of awful.
