Just to let you know

Despite my visit to the emergency eye clinic on 24th August due to a very sudden massive increase of fluid, which totally distorted my vision although my VA was still quite good I did not get my injection until 1st September when it was due anyway.

Now, my VA and the distortions are no better and no worse than they were on the 24th. Even my better eye cannot quite compensate for that, so I see some distortion when I look at items with both eyes. What is your take on having to wait a week or more? Does this happen at your clinic?

For those of you who read my post "One Day After Injection" , well, I did lead my 8 mile walk. It went better than I had dared to hope. Wonderful scenery, sunny day, eyes well protected against sun, dust and pollen; a bit of a balance problem, which I suffer from anyway, but no after-effects. So there is life even with wonky eyes!

Hi ayayay, glad you enjoyed your walk!

Re the week wait for inj - I'm torn. Instinct screams inject me now but as newbies we wait up to 2 weeks for our first inj so I guess its not unreasonable within the wider picture of what currently exists as treatment. Dont think I've waited longer than a week after an em appt. (Other than initial diagnosis time).

Fingers crossed this inj kicks in soon for you x

Thanks eyesright. Yes, I hope things will improve soon. The biggest problem for me at the moment is reading and looking at the screen. Everything is still distorted, blurry and darker, but as you say, I am sure it will improve in time.

Well done! I've already posted that when my treated eye went wonky I went to A&E at Moorfields some 10 days before my routine injection was due and got an injection on the same day.

Postcode lottery maybe.

Thank you yotboy. I am sure you are right about the postcode lottery. But I believe you have bleeds, which are generally treated with more urgency than fluid build-ups, which may also account for the slightly longer waiting time.

Hello ayayay

I'm glad you ignored all our cautionary advice. You went ahead with your walk anyway and had a wonderful time. Good for you. Life is for living even with wonky eyes.

It's hard emotionally waiting for an injection when you know you desperately need one and having the knowledge your eyesight can deteriorate in the meantime is dreadful. Hopefully over the next few days you will notice some improvement. It has taken a couple of weeks for me before I have noticed a change.

I am due an injection Friday following a scan a month ago showing a 'slight leak'. I would definately have liked it sooner but the decision is not ours unfortunately. 2468G

Thank you for that. You are right about the emotional side of it, the fear that it may do even more permanent harm if it can change so drastically almost over night. That was the main reason why I went to A&E. Nothing has as yet changed. I suppose I have to wait and see. Patience is the name of the game. Wish I could read a little better.

I wish you all the best for your next injection. Hope all goes well for you.

I'm surprised your retina doc didn't fit you in the next day.

Thank you for your reply. Well, driveinsane, we have to take it as it comes. Although the emergency doc tried to bring the injection forward, they clearly didn't think I was at risk of losing my central vision within a week. And I didn't!!!
