Bletheritis

Does anyone else suffer with bletheritis? This causes flaking eyelids which often cause infections. I am using various eye wipes as recommended but after last injection for wet MD threshold became inflamed and I now have a cyst which I am treating with ointment and antibiotics but could be a long job. I feel I have enough trouble with MD without this as well. Any suggestions?

Hi pinkperfection

Another inconvenience for you.

I don't have it but my hubby used to get it. His GP gave him a prescription for cream which sorted it out quite quickly. He also recommended he wash his eye area with baby shampoo daily. He followed this advice and for a few years now has had no problem. Before this solution. He did have a stubborn cyst that needed removing. It was a very minor surgery.

Sorry you have yet another eye issue. Best wishes 2468G

Thanks for this, the doctor said I may not get rid of the cyst altogether and may have to have it surgically removed. However probably not an option while I am having injections. Everyone is so helpful on this site. I do have a heated pad and I am using various eye wipes so just hope it will clear up soon.

Sorry to hear this Pinkperfection. Very nasty!! I'm OK with this now, but this happened before my AMD, and got better. Like tallyho I was told to use a hot compress; a wheat bag or just a hot flannel. I got a wheat bag from Boots: I still use it occasionally when my eye aches or feels gritty, and it is a great comfort.

Hi,

Just make sure you don't have any at the time of injections-- it should be treated first and the injection given when you are clear. Don't want to be alarmist but met a lady at my last clinic visit who had had problems recently because of this

Thanks I go back for assessment in a couple of weeks after three eyelea injections so will bear this in mind. praying it will have cleared up by then but not feeling very positive.

Are you sure you have blepharitis? It sounds like you have eye mitrs, also called Dermodex. Eye dr was no help, kept prescribing antibiotic drops. I googles symptoms, dry itchy feeling eyes with gravel in eyelashes. Oily substance under eye sometimes. When it is out of control. I get red, hot area under eye which one time spread down into cheek. 2 things which I found to help: 1.organic castor oil rubbed into lashes as needed. I usually use at bedtime. 2. Wet Ones in Red box, these are wipes than I use several times a day. Both help to decrease the mites so, much that I get lax using and they get bad again. It is a nuisance to have in addition to AMD, I agree.

Thanks Depoefan for your advice, I was sent back home this week from clinic because doctor said I had eye infection in both eyes so refused to inject. I worry because I am three weeks overdue and By the time it calms down I will be almost 3 months late and that is if it does sort itself out. Not a happy bunny.
