Hi, after 17 lucentes injections, Doc has changed my medication to Ozurdex injections. Has anyone had Ozurdex problems after injection? Has anyone benefited from using Ozurdex? Any info would be very apprectiated. Tgank you all in advance.

Change of medication
Hi, im on my 3rd ozurdex.
My dr told me will get cataract but can be dealt with. Said would only get it in eye with implant. He didnt give timescales but i assumed wouldnt happen right away.
Well, got them. In both eyes.
Havent seen him to discuss yet (saw different doc last review who said he saw them last Oct! Ie by 2nd implant) but i also thought once cataract op done it was sorted - however i know a person had the op ( no md issues) and the cataract has come back, theyve been told they now have to have laser treatment. I will be asking if mine can come back and if so what they will do!!! My existing damage is in a place that they dont like to laser.
Separately, IOP rose but I was already on timolol drops for this as the lucentis and eyelea inj had triggered it. So far under control.
I had improvement with ozurdex but it didnt last hence repeat ( was same with other inj). Now cant tell if blurriness is oedema or cataract - will post after review this month.
I know someone who had 3 implants and it worked. Theyve been fine since (brvo like me).
A surprising 'benefit' is my mood improvement. I hadnt realised just how wound up i was with the monthly treatments etc. I never got beyond 6 weeks without seeing deterioration, it will be 18 weeks at my next review and although i have some blurriness it hasnt gone to the emergency inj scenario I had in the past. I am much more laid back.
Of course, because the gap between implants has to increase with each one, if there was a rapid deterioration i suppose youd have to live with it longer which would be very stressful (ill be asking about that too).
The ozurdex op itself was fine. They gave me an anaesthetic inj in eye as well as the drops. Didnt feel anything with any of them ( had some painful lucentis). Did get a bad bleed once (see my old posts lol) but thats just luck of the draw. You can see the implant ( black rod) bobbing about but you get used to it and it goes after a few weeks.
I cant say if im glad i had ozurdex as the cataracts were a shock and until i get answers on whether they come back and what that might mean for me i cant decide. Good luck x
Thank you so much for your prompt reply, very much appreciated.
I had just the one Ozurdex implant following 80 Avastin and Lucentis shots. Cataract is almost inevitable and Glaucoma is also v high risk. In my case my existing tiny cataract caused by radiation damage is unchanged, my IOP oscillated from 14 down to 13 up to 26 but after 3 months fell back to 21. To my surprise my retinologist decided at that point not to continue with Ozurdex and returned me to Lucentis.
I had not heard of cataract returning or of an Ozurdex implant affecting both eyes.
The pellet was not visible to me but I have heard others saying that they could see it floating around.
Thank you for your response to my query. Interesting that you were put back on lucentis.
Puzzling, I think there was confusion with my earlier records. It remains to be seen, literally(!) what the outcome is after my last Lucentis shot. Normally, I have them at 4 week intervals whereas this will be 6 weeks. I shall not be happy if my vision has deteriorated by my next visit at the end of this month. 👹
