"Hundreds Go Blind While Waiting For NHS Treatment"* by Laura Donnelly, Health Editor, Daily Telegraph7/6/18. Doctors claim this happens to people with "common eye conditions, such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD ): losing their vision permanently because they were not treated by the NHS in time".

An all party parliamentary group called for "urgent action". "Eye clinics unable to keep pace with demand". Patient concern said "Losing your eyesight is one of the most horrifying things an older person can contemplate. It is terrifying that hundreds of lives were ruined by delays - it's the next worst thing to death". RNIB said "Nobody should lose their sight because their eye clinics is too busy to provide care in a clinically appropriate time scale". Royal College of Ophthalmologists said "This highlighted an increasing crisis in eye health services, under resourced and over-whelmed".

* This was on page 2, not unfortunately the front page, BUT I was so pleased to come across it in a leading broadsheet with a large circulation. So our plight obtaining treatment in the "correct time scale" is broadcast to the nation.
