Is there a precise spot where the injection has to hit or is it effective anywhere in the eye. My injection felt like it hit the upper lid a and that is why it hurt

Eylea injection
Hello Patjo,
I am sorry to learn about your painful injection.
The injection is given in the corner of the white of the eye.
Your eye is clamped open with a device called a speculum to prevent the eye closing (which a natural reaction).
You will be given drops of antibiotic eye wash to prevent infection as well anesthetic drops to numb the eye.
The injection should be painless.
If it is painful during or after the injection, this should be reported to the eye unit.
Please see our factsheet about pain after injection at the following link;

I've had eleven injections so far and half of them hurt, and when they do you get told of for involuntary jumping!! The anesthetic drops don't always work properly. Good luck.
I have had injections over the last several years and just recently switched to eyelea the pain was so unbelievably bad I thought it was a reaction to the eyelea come to find out my eye dr office switched their cleansing drops as well as their numbing gel everyone I have talked to gets intense pain after and it’s all because of their changes so now I use systane drops quite a few times right before injection and ask for extra numbing liquid and also for a wash afterwards these extra steps help a little but very painful still I did ask y they changed what they were using and I was told previous way was causing cornea abrasions good luck to you
I think they vary inj site but always in the white. I used to find inj up at the top hurt more than those lower down. Ask for more numbing drops.
