I am unable to comment on the condition but wonder if your son has been examined by an eye consultant rather than just a GP?

You could always seek a second opinion.

Hi

How good or how bad is your son's eye sight? You don't say how well he can see. Sometimes a scar is found on a child's retina. Scars are permanent and there is no treatment for that, but it does not necessarily cause impaired vision. Have you been told the likely cause of the scar? His eyes should be monitored regularly by an eye specialist, not just an optician, in case more scars appear, in which case the cause must be investigated. There is no such thing as a retina transplant. It is however possible to transfer the macula, or part of it, to a healthier spot of the retina, but such drastic operations are seldom carried out and only as a very last resort. Added to that - not every eye condition is suitable for such procedure. Your opthalmologist is the best person to advise you. Best wishes.

Dear abdulsamad1,

I am sorry to read of your son's eye condition.

Where are you based?

Was this information delivered by an ophthalmologist?

Unfortunately, once the eye has been scarred, there is currently no treatment for it.

What eye condition has your son been diagnosed with and is he currently receiving support from an ophthalmologist?

Kind regards,
