Hi DUwaE
If the scar tissue is on the retina and not on the macula it should not cause too many immediate problems. As I understand it, retinal or macular fibrosis is scar tissue developed after such as retinal detachment or a tear. Cells from the retina may migrate to - and form a thin sheet over - the macula. Hence the distorted vision. The other eye is incapable of compensating, so you will see better with the bad eye closed. If the vitreous humor contracts, as it tends to do after a certain age, the thin film puckers up and increases the distortion you see. That is why in some cases a vitrectomy is performed where the vitreous gel is replaced with saline to give the eye ball its proper shape back and stretch and smooth out the puckered film. The good news is, apparently, unlike AMD, it very rarely occurs in both eyes. Also : the film should not cause any immediate further damage. But do not take my word for it; speak to your opthalmologist if you can. Your medical team at the eye clinic are the best people to advise you.
Good luck!
