Hello. My husband was in a serious car accident two months ago, and is now permanently blind. He has been diagnosed with Charles Bonnet Syndrome, and is seeing evil hallucinations. Does anyone have experience with this syndrome?

Hello Stephanie, have you looked at the Macular Society webpage ? They have info on this condition which includes some ways of lessening the effect. Their helpline is also very good. I wish you and your husband all the best dealing with the impact of such a drastic event, take care, x

Stephanie, I hope you dont mind my posting this to you but I have just heard from a friend who had been losing his sight over the last year and noone in the eye field could find a cause - in an unrelated appt. a different dr has just discovered he had a cracked vertebra in his spine which was pressing on something that affected his sight. He has had surgery on his back and can now see perfectly ! It occurred to me your poor hubby may have had something similar after his car crash.

I do apologise if there is another obvious reason for his blindness but thought it better to mention than not, just in case you might want to get it checked out. X

Hi Eyesright. Of course I don't mind your posting this, but rather appreciate your concern greatly ! Unfortunately there was indeed a very obvious reason for him losting his sight - there were ruptures in the back of his eyes, including retinal material. They did everything they could just put the eyeballs back together. But again, thank you for reaching out, and that is fantastic news for your friend !! It never hurts to keep trying !

Take care, the emotional trauma as much as the physical means you both need lots of support as a couple and individually. I wish you both the strength to get through this time and the joy of coming out the other side stronger. X
