One thing never made clear is what happens to the original dryAMD in the eye affected by the wetAMD? Does this stop, stay with you worsen or what?
Told at Clinic today that i did not need a Lucentis injection this month & to see what it is like next month. The words were 'you are dry today'. Does this mean that i still have the dryAMD as well as the wetAMD?
Hope someone can clarify this point please?

Hi. So sorry about your wet AMD . I now have wet AMD in both eyes and the way I always understood it is with wet there's a leak and with dry there is not. So if you have your injection and that stops your leak you have dry AMD until it starts leaking again. I'm sure there is more to it than that, but at the hospital I'm told I have wet AMD I've never been told it's dry after an injection just that it has stopped leaking. I hope I've helped a bit and good luck with your injections.
Hi many thanks for your reply.made it a bit clearer as tho the team at my clinic sre very helpful sometimes the answers are a bit technical so you do not get a clear answer.Good luck to you to.
From a medical point of view, anyone who develops wet AMD will have had some underlying dry AMD, although it may be very minimal. When wet AMD is stabilised; i.e. the fluid has been dried up by treatment, it is then described as dry. The dry will unfortunately still progress, but at a slow rate.
The wet AMD may still recur so you should be monitored for at least 3 months without the need for an injection. Often when this occurs, a patient would then be discharged and left to 'self monitor' (with an amsler grid), but with instruction to return to the hospital if the symptoms of wet AMD occur again.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.Makes what i was told yesterday a lot clearer. So just have to wait & see if either the dry or the wet get worse. Hope one day there will be a miracle cure for wet & dry AMD.
