If someone has Dry AMD in both eyes then develops Wet AMD in one eye, does this mean that the Dry AMD has turned into Wet AMD?

Or do you then have both Dry & Wet AMD in that eye?

Can anyone answer this query for sure please?

Hello Cormorin,

Yes, you can have dry in one eye and wet in the other eye. The dry MD can turn to wet MD; this happens in about 10% of people.

If you develop wet MD in one eye, you will have a 50% chance of it developing in the other eye within a 5 year period. Conversely, you have a 50% chance that it will not!

Best wishes

Many thanks for your answer. Kind of puts my mind at rest a bit as we were not sure if you would have both Wet & Dry in one eye.

Crossing my fingers i will be lucky & not get the Dry in my other eye turn to Wet.
