Has anybody possibly found that they have had a side effect of paranoia from Hydroxychloroquine.I have had such bad feelings of insecurity and depression.I am not blaming the Hydroxy but,it seems a very odd feeling and I started the Hydroxy about two month's ago now.
Possible side effect?: Has anybody possibly found... - LUPUS UK
Possible side effect?
I can't say I have experienced these symptoms with hydroxychloroquine, but it shouldn't be dismissed. It's possible for some medications to interact with something else we might be taking and we all react differently to things. It's probably best to have a chat with your doctor and make an emergency appointment if the symptoms worsen. Hopefully it's something that will settle down.

Thanks for your reply.I have finally got an appointment with my GP on Wednesday.
Binkey, that sounds horrible. It is known that steroids can cause mental health issues but I have never read about Hydroxychloroquine having that effect. Have you looked in the drug information sheet to see if paranoia is listed in side effect?
I am glad for you that you are going to see your GP to get some support on this issue.
Hope everything works out well for you.
Hi Binkey,
Yes, I had nervousness, anxiety and insecurity on the hydroxy and my rheumatologist took me off it. It is one of the listed side-effects but is apparently not very common. I was offered by the rheumatologist to lower my dose but with his 'ok' I decided to come off it completely and the nervousness stopped almost immediately.
I hope it goes well with your doctor, perhaps they will suggest lowering your dose.

I never experienced these problems with Hydroxy. It's obviously upsetting you so take yourself back to the Doctor and ask for some advice. x
