What should i give up.........

I am 35, and was diagnosed 6 years ago. Before Lupus I was a very active member of the community and have continued to be involved although now it is taking its toll - BUT what do I give up.....

I am mum to 3 kids (9,8,and 3 years old) my husband works away in the week.

I work part time (Mon/Wed/Fri)

I am Chair and Newsletter Editor of the Thames Valley Lupus Group.

I am Secretary of the local Scout Group.

I am an Avon Lady.

I am quite involved with my boys football club, which takes up every Sat/Sun morning.

I help out at school things where i can although this has dwindled now that i work.

I am also involved with the local Community Plan for the village i live in.

I enjoy all of things and am finding it hard to decide which to give up but i must as my health is suffering.

Please help me make a decision because as you can see i obviously can't say "no" to anyone !!!!!!!!

You don't have to give up anything! You just need to learn to take things easier that's all. Lupus isn't the end of life as we know it, we just have to adapt, we can do that quite easily, just slow down! X

Pammy is right, you don't need to give anything up, you just need to put YOU first at times, when your having a bad day & the best you do is to get out of bed, those are the days when you have to ask yourself "am I looking after me?" Your as important as all those things you like to do & it's ok to put yourself 1st at times. x

I agree with Trace and Pammy, you don't have to give up anything, try just shortening the time spent on each thing and make a little more YOU time , especially during the flares, Best of luck to you. Trish

Listen to your body and take note. We can't all do the things we want to so you have to deal with it as best you can. As the others say you don't have to give things up but just take care of yourself first and the rest will follow. Keep wellxx
