yes, I have. He is very thorough, knowledgeable, approachable, explains everything, takes time listening to all your concerns (so prepare yourself for delays in appointment times, approx 15-20 minutes, because of it, which I don't mind, I want him to listen to me too) and tries to give you answers, does a visual examination as well as listening to your history (something my local rheumatologist never did). But he is very much a lupus specialist, so if you happen to have something unrelated to lupus that pops up in your blood tests, he won't go into it, he'll refer you to the right person, which I so appreciate because many doctors try to give you all the answers even if they don't have a clue, this way Dr Sanna ensures you get the correct advice from the most appropriate person.

His specific interest is CNS lupus and he will take seriously all the symptoms you describe but it is a relief to see the experience this doctor has in the occurrence of such symptoms in others, in assessing the likelihood of you having it or developing it.

My experience has been excellent. Note that his English is not perfect but you just have to ask twice if you don't understand him.

But we are all different, so you might form your own view after seeing him. When do you have your appointment?

Plenty of time to prepare, have your list of symptoms ready and the chronology of when they first appeared, how they developed, what makes them better or worse, that kind of thing. Good luck.

I have seen him and agree he is a fantastic doctor. I wrote a list of questions and he went through every one until I was happy.

Must be different person to the one I saw. He would not listen! I went on to Prof Hughes who was a welcome relief. Good luck, we all have different perspectives like our illness.

Hi Larissa,

Happy Christmas x

yes, I have been under Dr Sanna since July this year. In that time I have seen him twice and since then and have found him an incredible specialist. Thorough in the extreme, very approachable, very personable and has the ability to not only make me feel important bt also that he was genuinely interested in me and also my diagnosis and care. So dnt be worried, be happy n look forward to your appointment x
