Has anyone else had a bad reaction to Lyrica? If so, what were your symptoms? I feel really ill today and am wondering if it could be the Lyrica I have been taking for about 3 weeks now.
LYRICA: Has anyone else had a bad reaction to... - LUPUS UK
LYRICA
I suggest you google this, have just done it myself as I didn't know the drug. The side affects are well documented and you should be able to see if they fit with what you are experiencing. Next step to check with your GP. Good luck.
Thanks will do xxx
I think this is sold in the uk as Pregabalin. If that is correct, I was prescribed Pregabalin but I could only take it for two days after which I gave up, I couldn't stand the side effects - in my case those were mainly making me sleep all the time and dulling my mind, feeling really flat and vacant and some dizziness. In any event, the pain went away without it, which was good. But I only took it for two days so I could come of them quickly, those who take them for longer must not come off them suddenly, only as prescribed, so check with your doctor before stopping.
I couldn't take Lyrica because of the side effects even on 25mg I felt almost drunk and unsteady. My rheumy switched me to Neurontin which is an older drug but basically dose the same thing as Lyrica. Having said all that I do some people who have had a very positive response to Lyrica.
How interesting, I'm on 400mg of Pregabalin/Lyrica (Pregabalin is the generic name and Lyrica is the brand name of the company who make it) and I've never had any side effects at all. I love it for taking away my background pain. I started on 100mg twice a day and worked up to 200mg twice a day. I notice straight away if I have forgotten to take it - within a couple of hours I feel tired and sore. Doesn't stop the flares though sadly!
Definitely go back to your GP!

I find it interesting too, as I am on 600 mg a day (maximum dose) and it has helped reduce some of the minor pain. I have just started using Butrans patches for the more intense pain and, so far, it seems to be working well. Yes, Pregabalin makes me a little tired, but feel that the trade off is more than worth it.
Neurontin or Gabapentin also makes some people tired/fatigued but has made some people depressed. So it is a case of finding which drug works best for you.
As Jennie says, go back and talk to your GP.
Hi - I had some "peripheral neuropathy" type of pain in my scalp (like hot needles all over - very uncomfortable!) and the GP prescribed 75mg of Lyrica. After 3 weeks, the only effect was to make me more lethargic and also had a stomach upset. I still had the pain, so I stopped taking them. Since then, I have decreased dosage of Plaquinel and that has helped to ease this particular problem.
Everyone reacts individually to drugs, so there are no "hard and fast" conditions. If you are on other meds too - it can be difficult to work out which is causing ill or beneficial effects. I guess your GP gave you advice as to the best time of day to take them?
Hope you feel better soon......
