Does anyone with Lupus get sudden onset of redenning/itching of hands and feet?
Oh yes - and never get any money for it either!!! No pattern to it and they have a tendency to swell also
Have you had an explaination for it ?
Have to admit I have not even asked the question with so many other things going on with this myriad of diseases. If I was to guess I would say it has to do with inflammation of either the nerves or vascular system (vasculitis). Does not appear to be allerigic in nature. Also though about APS but the minor clots would limit the itching to seperate areas so would say the first two options seem more logical
It drives me mad!!!! I do agree with Davos, I think mine is vasculitiis as a previous rheumy of mine thought I had it (along with the usual hundreds of other 'things' that us lupies have!
Thanks for the info. I must admit when it happened before, I thought it was just a one off so didnot mention it to my Dr. As you say there are so many different symptoms I never know whether I am coming or going. Thanks again I'm off to look off Vasculitis .
How can we add pics....Ive had the same on my hands and feet too then they turned into blister type things then dead skin....Allergy tests have confirmed I am not allergic to anything but myself and the sun!
I have exactly the same thing. Red itchy patches on hands and feet, and one on my upper arm! They usually start when I'm about to have a flare and can be unbearable for a couple of days then just sore and unsightly. As its the start of the flare for me, I usually have a 10 course of steroids which does help, although my Rheumatologist referred me to a Dermatologist. They advised it was vasculitis and they took a biopsy of one of my scars that the patches leave and tested it for Lupus but the results were inconclusive. The dermatologist prescribed me Dermovate cream (steroid cream) which helps and clears up the scars left behind.
Read this site a lot but never posted, so I do hope my experience helps.
