I take Methotrexate with Hydroxychloroquine. Don't know if that helps you. Discuss with your Specialist. I have seen a small improvement on these but its taken a long time.

Yes. As each lupus patient is unique so must be the medication regimens prescribed to each lupus patient. Work with your doctor/s to find the best combination of medications for your specific type of lupus and related symptoms.

It is bothersome and can take time to sort out; but if better relief can be had it is worth all of the effort. Be patient ... and be tenacious. Never give up hope for improvement. Good luck to you.

i am in the same boat as it were. planequel after a few months has made my symptoms so bad i am in the worst pain of my life.now have weakened muscles, dragging my feet, mosre stiifness in my hands, headaches, and very tired. i am so unhappy as i dont want to be on stronger more toxic meds but the constant pain is making me very depressed, i have an appointment with the rheumatologist but she does not seem that bothered.

very frightened and not optomistic sorry for the rant anyone have any ideas?

Hi tintin49, my advice would be to change your rheumatologist and or hospital to find someone you have a better rapport with. Like you I never wanted to be on stronger more toxic drugs and I thought the side effects of methotrexate were bad enough but 2 months ago I moved on to Mycophenolate and I feel I'm now turning a corner as I'm starting to feel a little better. (I get sun screen on prescription with this drug).

If you have never been one to take lots of tablets then it can be hard having to start taking some serious drugs but I have now learnt to accept it and go with the flow that way at least you can leave behind the stress associated with that. Do see your gp if you are feeling depressed, they should be able to help.
