They will say why is your hip dislocated,,why are you claiming ,,will your hip heal and recover fully? They will ask you many many questions and take weeks to reply then prob say no you do not qualify,,if you feel you do you have to play their game and continue to disagree that you should get this..alot of us have worked all our lives up untill becoming ill,,they want you to not bother and give in,,if you feel you deserve this benefit,,fight them,,i am currently waiting for my Tribunal date to appear in court to appeal against there decision,,if i loose i did not give up with out fighting them,,this takes time and your precious energy but i believe i should be awarded this,,my life is often crippled through this cruel disease too.Go for it i say,,and Good luck. :)

thank you very much for your reply i wish you well with your tribunal, its really annoying that we have to fight just to get a bit of help in these crippling times. wish you well and good luck.x

Hi, go for it and if they say no the appeal. Try to get a GP or consultant on board. My brother got it for six months - he was on crutches waiting for a knee operation. Good luck, Angela x

Hi Mondeo,

Before you fill the DLA form get your local welfare rights officer or the equivalent person in your area (get in touch with your local council for the phone number) to help you with the form filling.

They will also help you if you have to appeal or go to a tribunal. Make sure you get your consultant to send them a report instead of your GP.

As a disabled adult you are entitled to a social worker so if you have one they should be able to help you with the DLA.

All the best

Maureen

You may be entitled to claim Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) as you are incapcitated. Maybe you could try researching this on the direct, gov.uk website

All the best

hi mondeo

give it a try but it is always helpful to get in touch with your local disabled living foundation. they know how the system works and made a big difference to my claim for DLA and form filling.

hope you do ok.
