Does any1 have Glaucoma as well as Lupus?

I've had Lupus sle 4 15yrs & have just been told that they think i have glaucoma (as been having eye probs 4 a while)R they linked?Ive only just started taking Plaquinel with steroids & Azathrioprine

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Why not get another eye test somewhere else. This is what I have just one. I take plaquinel 400mg daily and steroids (continual for 3 years). I was told I had high eye pressure a few weeks ago during an eye test-the part they blow air into your eyes. The optometrist said it may be the steroids. I went to a different opticians today and it didn't show this. I have what I call good eye days and bad eye days. I don't think anyone really believes what I am saying. Why not also ask to be referred to an eye specialist. Good Luck.

I also have glaucoma and it is not related to my lupus. I was diagnosed with glaucoma in my early twenties and I have been diagnosed with lupus last year. The glaucoma is definitely not caused by any lupus medications because I have only been taking hydroxy for about a month.

I do think the inflammation caused by lupus does play a part with worsening glaucoma because the pressures in my eyes are not low enough and my Opthalamologist has recommended I have surgery shortly. The surgery is also to do with my age because I am relatively young (32), they need to be more aggressive with my treatment so as to give me better vision for longer.

Are you attending an eye hospital?

Hi Lisa78, I have traces of glaucoma and being watched carefully. I've had lupus for almost 20yrs & I believe that the plaquinel I've been using is a major cause to my eye issues and bone marrow loss. Work with your doctor in keeping an 'eye' out on any issues you may have. Lupus is not an exact disease so there's no exact diagnosis or cure. Unfortunately for us Medicine is a Practice. Doctors practice Medicene. BTW: Layers practice Law. These are probably the only two professions that we place our lives in their hands & they get paid to practice. But have faith, their only human! Hang in there, praying for you!

Thank u 4 all ur advice.I'm currently waiting 2 see eye specialist nxt month,they were seeing me 2yrs ago but told me then that i just had dry eye syndrome & just needed 2 use normal eye drops.Then bolt out of the blue they mention Glacoma (not medication related).
