My partner was on Myfortic Acid for 3 years before changing to Azathioprine. Around the same time she also changed her beta blocker from Atenolol to Bisoprolol. Approx 4months after these alterations in her medication she noticed that she had water retention around the chest and abdomen causing her weight to increase. Clothes weren't fitting anymore and she went up 2 dress sizes and 3 bra sizes.
After 6-8 months on Azathioprine, she changed back to Myfortic Acid. The weight continued to increase before plateauing at an increased weight of 1.5stones.
She exercises regularly, eats healthily and was prescribed furosemide to help with the water retention but the weight won't shift.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to help get back to her normal svelte self??

Hi there,my daughter had a couple of stones weight gain from steroids that she couldn't seem to shift but a she was on water tablets her heart specialist prescribed stronger water tablets, and she lost 11 pound in 2 weeks, can your wife see a dietician through her lupus clinic? It must be upsetting for anyone who has to take meds to feel better, who in turn feels worse because they put on excess weight.
