New to forums - Zentiva (??)

First Post...

In a thumbnail I've been prescribed Hydroxy by Rheumy 12 months ago after Lupus diagnosis 18 months ago. I find (found) denial is/ was a great tool for pushing on until she caught up with my and prescribed the Hydroxy'.

It appears to be helping, though it's been complicated.

Anyway... here I am trying to keep the wolf at the door, brain still pushing back, body however is speaking its depressing truth more and more and then - I stumble upon this forum and read, read, read. God we're amazing eh?! Through hearing of situ's and symptoms it transpires that most if the last three decades I have been experiencing Lupus effects. Had no idea, just thought I was 'lacking' in some way.

Now I'm curious, and being so late to the party am wondering why Zentiva is the preferred choice of brand for many of you. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I gave my own similar thoughts about synthetic thyroxine but feel like I'd been whistling in the wind until proof otherwise recently.

Thank you for sharing your experiences on here, I rarely use IT but it has helped make a shape of things for me, in the past and now moving forward.

Thanks in advance for any responses. If I don't reply regularly it's because I'm out pretending all is well! 😎

Zentiva is a must for me. I am sensitive to some of the colorants and fillers in the other brands. I finally ended up with pancreatitis and now have a damaged pancreas as a result. If Zentiva is unavailable I will go without.

Thanks for this. A lot to take on & now this aspect on top - sorry to hear of your experience. Beggars belief that elements that can do harm within meds are allowed.

It really is down to trial and error as some can tolerate any brand, whereas quite a few have had a reaction to Quinoric or IPCA. We hear less about those that can’t tolerate Zentiva. Everyone is different and pharmacists like to dispense what they are provided by their stockists. You will hopefully have no issues. Good luck x

Zentiva causes no side effects with me and is one of the only coated tablets so no bitter taste. Any quinoric brand (Blackrock, ipca) tastes fowl and causes nausea and stomach upset not sure if it's silica that causes the issue with me. Zentiva is based on Plaquenil as is Blackrock I understand.. if you are OK with your brand of hydroxy then don't change. Zentiva and Blackrock are harder to get as they are slightly more expensive and chemist warehouses don't buy as much as the cheaper quinoric brands. Well done for getting diagnosed. I'm a 20-30 year person too for my diagnosis. You know you don't feel right, extra tired a lot but for me it was peri menopause in my late 30s that sent my symptoms in to overdrive. At least we have medication now to dampen inflammation. Just keep a look out for other conditions now you have lupus. I have lupus and sjogrens and now developing vascular issues with my brain and legs. Hopefully you stay stable and you have a good Rheumatologist and Gp. You need it. Xx

Thank you so much for this. I think I have a good Rheumatologist, time will tell.

Hi, it is not a preferred choice for me but the only one I can take that doesn't cause me to be sick and have constant nausea, its all about the fillers apparently x

I found zentiva the best in terms of taste! We deal with so many immunosuppressients so at least taste shouldn't be another burden ;)
