Have you had any problems getting hydroxychloroquine or has your pharmacist said they cannot order a specific version for you?
We’re collecting information about the difficulties people have been having so we can raise these issues with the right people to get some answers or push for any changes needed to ordering systems, for example.
filled in the survey, getting way beyond a joke. Lots of Lupus patients cannot tolerate some brands because of the fillers and it is not the first time Zentiva has been impossible to get. Somewhere in the system someone is not telling the truth - has the shortage of ingredients been resolved? Is Zentiva being manufactured in quantity? Are the middle men buying/stocking Zentiva? Why can’t the pharmacies get hold of it?
Sorry, rant over it is making life much harder and seemingly unnecessary. Other meds are in short supply, what is going on and why aren’t government/ health officials doing something proactive about it? Now my rant is over, promise x
Having a rant is absolutely understandable and okay! It is very stressful when you can't reliably get the medication you need. Thanks for completing the survey.
if there are numerous people having problems, needing Zentiva brand yet Zentiva say there isn’t a problem, how can we get it sorted? No problem filling in questionnaires but I think we would all appreciate action. All these drugs are on license so who oversees the licensing and whether they comply with supply? Either someone is holding all the aces or the deck was incomplete to start with. Good luck to all my fellow Lupus sufferers in their search x
Our first step is to gather more detailed information and more accounts, like through this survey, then we can use that to decide what might be best to do next, and who might be best for us to go to with the evidence about the problems (for example which health governance agency or which company). I'll write up the results of the survey after I've given people enough time to participate (probably in a week or two), and then we can start to outline our plan for what we're going to do about it.
You only seem to be asking for feedback from people who are having trouble obtaining hydroxy. Perhaps some feedback from those who are not having any supply problem would show you where in the country there is no problem, which pharmacies are delivering and which manufacturers are maintaining supply's. So far my wife has had no issues in obtaining Black Rock 300mg from out local GP dispensary. Is the questionnaire for those with supply issues only?
That is a fair point. There is an option to answer "no problems" to the first question, but most of the other questions are geared towards people who are having problems, and I should have added a "not applicable" option to these. You (or your wife) are very welcome to complete the survey and answer "no problems" to the first question and complete the prescription type / location questions. As you say, all information is helpful in us trying to understand what problems there are, and if there are differences between regions or types of prescription.
Hi Debbie - I’ve completed this survey this afternoon. Today I went to collect my prescription my pharmacy dispensed IPCA Brand which I gave back to them. IPCA make me very unwell. My prescription states Zentiva Brand only. I have a few days left which I’ll have start taking alternate days until they can hopefully get some in.
It’s not uncommon for me to receive IPCA even when they have Zentiva available!!!
I’ll look forward to the findings of the survey. More importantly to the solution of this monthly battle for Zentiva Hydroxychloroqine.
Thanks for doing the survey, but sorry to hear you have also been having difficulty getting the version you need. I hope you're able to source some soon.
Hello Debbie 👋🏼 survey completed. I would like to point out that my pharmacy did not have an issue with Zentiva brand until a few months ago. Fortunately, I had a few packs left. On last one. Hopeful, next script (17 July) will be Zentiva - Hydroxychloroquine 200mg.
For Feedback IPCA brand was issued! My script states "Zentiva Brand". This all can not be a coincidence 🤔
I am in agreement that other brands are not well tolerated. I do hope it is not the case of Pharmacies under pressure with financial demands on item stocks to break even.
I wish you well in getting to the bottom of this matter and having our voices heard, Thank you 🧡🫂😊
Morning Debbie and Guys 👋🏼 hope you are feeling well
Just to update you that I just rang my pharmacy to check that my Zentiva brand, Hydroxychloroquine 200mg was ordered. YESSSSS 👌🏽👏🏼😇☘️ it has come in.
I would like to say, that the regular pharmacy returned after being away all this year. I explained that I can not tolerate IPCA brand. Awful gastro symptoms, headaches, dizzy, nausea, feeling so ill.....I tried for 5 days, luckily remembered I had one pack left in purse.
This should give some HOPE to this Saga.....My script states - Zentiva brand
