Hi. Looking at blood results the gp has tested for dna binding auto antibodies and dsdna binding auto antibodies. Are these connected or separate things?
Thanks

Some basic, readable info on anti-ds DNA autoantibodies. It’s done by immunofluorescence spectroscopy.
My results were obtained after a kidney biopsy confirming my lupus nephritis (aka glomerulonephritis) and SLE:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-...
”…Anti-double stranded DNA (Anti-dsDNA) antibodies are a group of anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) the target antigen of which is double stranded DNA. Blood tests such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunofluorescence are routinely performed to detect anti-dsDNA antibodies in diagnostic laboratories. They are highly diagnostic of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and are implicated in the pathogenesis of lupus nephritis…” etc
Note that DNA is normally double stranded 🧬/ ds but can be single stranded in different cellular processes!👆
