Hello Antipas. I have a very hoarse voice as well. I was recently tested for Sjogrens and it is inconclusive. But I do have silent GERD causing hoarseness and thyroiditis. Might check out one of those causes. As for what helps? Gargling with a teaspoon of coconut oil/not the cooking oil for a few minutes followed by warm salt water. Sucking ice cubes; warm tea with whiskey (just a bit) sugar free candy or gum. Lemons— get some moisture going. Good luck.

hi Antipas, as well as mrs marigolds suggestions there are biotene mouth wash/ sprays that you could ask GP for. I also use a tablet Xylimelts at bedtime that helps keep moisture going .

You might also considering asking for a referral to a voice therapist . . .

hi Antipas, I have primary Sjogrens too and when on hydrox I also had a croaky voice from time to time and one consultant suggested taking an anti histamine- I’m no longer on hydroxy due to eye problems and no croaky voice so not sure if coincidence 🌺

Hi Antipas, I have MCTD and over the last few years have developed a hoarse/scratchy voice. My consultant referred me for voice therapy and I've been referred for further tests. The things the therapist suggested which help me are: salivix pastilles in the day and xylimelts at night, reducing the amount of coffee I drink (instead of a few mugs over the day, I'll just have an espresso followed by a glass of water in the morning and then herbal teas or water through the rest of the day), little sips of water frequently through the day rather than having a glass now and then, steam inhalation for 10 minutes (my partner bought me an electric facial steamer for this) which I find really soothing at the end of the day, various breathing/voice exercises and lax vox which is basically blowing bubbles through a straw into water while making vocal sounds - its effect is a bit like a massage for the vocal cords and throat and again I find it very soothing. Lots of nhs trusts have lax vox videos/guidance online. I hope you find something which helps.
