From the NHS website:

“…Who can get a booster dose?

NHS should contact you if you're eligible for a seasonal booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this spring.

You may be offered a seasonal booster if you:

are aged 75 or over (you need to have turned 75 on or before 30 June 2023)

live in a care home for older adults

are aged 5 or over and

have a weakened immune system.

People who have a weakened immune system

People who have a weakened immune system can include those who had or have:a blood cancer, such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma, an organ, bone marrow or stem cell, HIV infection at all stages, a genetic disorder affecting the immune system, a treatment such as steroid medicine, biological therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, certain medicines that increase your risk of infection, such as azathioprine, dexamethasone, prednisolone, ciclosporin or mycophenolate (depending on your dosage), a long-term immunosuppressive treatment for conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, scleroderma and psoriasis.

This list is a summary and does not cover everything. There are other health conditions and treatments that may mean you have a weakened immune system. If you’re unsure, speak to a pharmacist, GP or your specialist for advice.Information:

If you're at increased risk from COVID-19 due to a medical condition but you do not have a weakened immune system, you're not able to get a further COVID-19 vaccination this spring.

You should still have some protection against severe COVID-19 from previous doses...”

Ihi I'm a bit confused, I thought it said on government website, that people with lupus, that are just on hydroxychloroquine are no going to get the spring covid booster, I have just received a text on my NHS app, to say I am in the vulnerable group, to book in

As far as I'm aware it's only if u are on a certain dose of daily steroid or immunosuppressant not just purely having lupus?? But it may have changed 🤷🏼‍♀️

I've booked mine and my mums via the NHS app for later this month.you can only proceed to booking a jab if you have a weakened immune system or are over 75 . X

As others have said, Lupus itself does not qualify you for a vaccination unless you are on prednisone or immunosuppressants.

Many of us lupus patients who are only taking hydroxychloroquine recently received communications from NHS saying that we are eligible for Covid treatments. We also received a batch of Covid tests. So although not eligible for a booster we should get antiviral treatments.

Hi marypw. I received the same communication and tests kit and am just recovering from COVID. I reported my positive test result and received a phone call from Rheumy who said I was not eligible for the antiviral treatment just from being on hydroxychloroquine, unfortunately. I had been given a prescription for prednisolone about 5months ago, but didn't end up taking them. If I had, I would have been given the antivirals, apparently. If anyone hears differently, I'd be interested to know. 💐

Getting there slowly, BonnyB, thank you. Still feel really tired though, which has surprised me, to be honest. Xx
