Spring Booster Covid-19 Vaccine for Weakened Immune

Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well.

I haven't been here for a while due to the issues I was having with my eye sight and headaches. I started experiencing muscle strain due to a lot of computer use. I've been to optician now and was told there's no major damage and was just due to muscle strain and been prescribed some glasses to help with tech work. Hence I am now back here.

Anyway I am reaching out to you all particularly those who have been invited to have their Spring Booster vaccine. I have always had Pfizer for all my four vaccines and now when i phoned to arrange for my booster vaccine was told it might be Moderna vaccine. Has anyone of you here had Moderna and if so what has been your experience with it? Feeling very nervous to go and have been very well with all my Pfizer vaccines so far. Thanks in advance.

Hi Spanielmadlady. Thanks so much for your comment. Really helped to see how others have been responding to different vaccines. Wasn't feeling very brave as I have been given Pfizer all along. Hopefully all goes well with whatever they decide to offer me.

Hi Peacor. I was diagnosed lupus this April and so only had 3 vaccines in total. Two Astra Zenecas no side effects just pain arm and feeling sleepy and Moderna the third and no sides effects.

I hope that when they offer me the 4th I get Pzeifer this time. I think having different vaccines it’s better than just the same one. I didn’t have covid yet as I’ve been taking care a lot. I work from home and I don’t see many people. And I wear my mask in supermarkets and shops. Moderna is one of the vaccines that I think has no side effects or hardly side effects.

I've just had my fifth jab this week due to being immunosuppressed.I've had AZ X2, Pfizer X2 and then this week I had Moderna. I haven't experienced any significant effects from any of them, just tiredness and achy arm.

Hi. Exactly same situation with me always had Pfizer with no side effects other than a sore arm. Had my spring booster, it was moderna. Apparently its the cheaper option so maybe used more than Pfizer from now on. Anyway I had a reaction and was knocked about for a day, felt absolutely exhausted and out of it, but was then fine the next day. Good luck x

I too received Moderna for my 5th jab. I was fine but was told it was from the same family as Pfizer and it was just cheaper when I asked a health professional friend. Although i was fine after it, my arm was more painful than with my previous jabs. Hope all goes well for you.

Hi, thanks for your message and for sharing your experience. It's been great to hear from others and their experiences and this has given me a bit of hope and courage to go and get this sorted asap and just wait to see how my body reacts to it.

I had Moderna for (maybe) no 4. Was fine, but truthfully I haven’t reacted to any of them.

Hi

I was told that Moderna is made similar to Pfizer and that AZ was for the hospitals now 🤷‍♀️ I have had 5 jabs in total 2xAZ 2xPfizer 1x Moderna . The only one I had any symptoms from was the 4th and that was that I was very tired . All the jabs gave me an achy arm for a short spell of time. I had no problems at all with the Moderna.

Hi, thanks so much for the message and for sharing your experience with various jabs. Hopefully mine will go well whatever they decide to give me this time. Was feeling a bit nervous but after reading a few responses here I will go and have whatever is on at the moment and see how my own body copes with it.

Same happened to me, two full Pfizer vaccines and two Pfizer boosters and then a couple of weeks ago a Moderna booster! I was surprised and worried also but there was no need. I had a slightly sore injection site a couple of days after and that was it. Good luck to you but it will be fine I’m sure 👍🏻

Hi, thanks for the message and for sharing your experience. Also glad to hear some positive and good stuff with moderna. Just like I mentioned before I am really feeling nervous and in two minds as whether to carry on looking for Pfizer or just go with the moderna. Hopefully I will have decided by the end of the weekend so that I get it out of my way sooner.

Hello Peacor I had Pfizer for my previous 4 and had minor or no side-effects but had Moderna last Thursday(a week ago)+ was assured that having Moderna plus Pfizer gives you better immunity so I swithered+ dithered in front of the nurse + then decided to just go for it instead of searching everywhere for a place that offered Pfizer. I had the worst reaction ever- terrible migraine for a day which nothing would help(co-codamol 30/500mgx2 every 4 hours), terrible fever+ chills, joint pains, nausea(which I suffer from anyway) on a different level to anything I've ever had before (I had 2 rich tea biscuits+ a couple of dry crackers for one whole day(+ that was only eaten to see if it would help the nausea but it did not) then slowly managed to eat a little the nxt day), extremely fatigued+ unable to get out of bed(I know we have lupus+ we have fatigue anyway but this took everything to a new level), then obviously the usual sore arm which was nothing compared to all of the other things! I started to feel better three days later. I do hope you get on ok+ looking at the other replies, lots of people have no reaction or have reacted to some of the other jags so I think it all seems very much a personal thing. Wishing you well. Xx

Hi Whitemagnum, thanks for your message and for also sharing your experience with the vaccines and your reaction to moderna. Sorry to hear about all the side effects that you experienced too. Must have been a terrible time for you! Hope you are now fully recovered and the good thing is that atleast now you are fully vaccinated. I am really feeling nervous and in two minds as whether to carry on looking for Pfizer or just go with the moderna. Hopefully i will have decided by the end of the weekend so that I get it out of my way sooner.

Hi again Peacor, please don't be put off by my reaction to the jag as many people in the other replies have been absolutely fine and as Sara_A says below, mixing different jags actually improves your immunity. I hope you have decided what to do and manage to get it done this week. All the best!

Hi I've just recently been for my 5th spring booster and I too have always had Pfizer and this time when I got there it was moderna. It's better they say to have a different one for your immunity so I'd actually prefer to have this and I have a medical background so I was totally happy with this.I was absolutely fine bit of a sore arm that's all but I had this with my Pfizer ones.

You don't know how u are going to react to any of these vaccines and everyone is going to be different, just because 1 person reacts to it doesn't mean another person will.

I wouldn't be concerned at all but that's just my opinion. I have been a vaccinator for 20 yrs and given advice to my patients when vaccinating them too.

Good luck and I hope you get on ok 😊

Hi Sara_A, thanks a lot for your message and for sharing your own experience both with the vaccines as well as being a vaccinator. I've started to feel much confident and not to over think about it all. Hopefully all goes well with me as I am planning to go next week.

Good, they are all very much alike and if u went along for the others with no worries I'd try and treat it the same. Theres nothing we can do about it and at least we are able to get the vaccine 🤷🏼‍♀️ that's the main thing. So that's good u are more relaxed.

Every year the flu vaccine is a different brand but nobody worries about having that

Hi I had Moderna for my winter and spring boosters Autumn was a bit of a sore arm for a couple of hours and a headache but I also had flu vaccine at the same time so could have been that, spring one no reactions whatsoever not even a sore arm hope that helps

I have 4 x Pfizer and then Moderna for the spring booster and my response was exactly the same for all of them. Not saying it was good, it just wasn't any different to Pfizer. They say it's good to mix them up.
