NICE has published their draft final recommendations for COVID-19 treatments.
We are pleased that they have included sotrovimab for people who are at high risk of severe COVID-19 but cannot have Paxlovid. This hopefully means most people with lupus will have a viable treatment option.
Thanks for posting this Paul. I wonder whether you're aware of what the current thoughts are on continuing boosters for the immunosuppressed and compromised?
Great question! Our new Health Information Officer, Debbie_kinsey updated our article about COVID-19 vaccines last week - lupusuk.org.uk/covid19-vacc...
The JCVI have recommended an autumn 2023 booster for most people at higher risk from COVID (most likely anyone over-50). They are also recommending a spring 2023 booster for those at highest risk from COVID (i.e. immunosuppressed etc).
At the moment, they haven't confirmed the eligibility criteria for the 2023 booster programmes. I expect we'll have more details in the next couple of weeks and will share any information here when we have it.
thank you Paul. I’m not immunosuppressed but have been told not to have further vaccinations at the moment. They seem to make my autoimmune diseases flare and I get more pain and fatigue. I haven’t yet had Covid, I have a very quiet lifestyle, but it’s good to know that there are things that may well help me when I do get it.
