low neutrophils

hi everyone

Hope you are all having a good Saturday. A quick question.

I have been having weekly methotrexate injections but recently my neutrophil count has become low. I have stopped mtx now but the neutrophil TWBC count remains low.

Would be interested to know if anyone experienced anything similar and if so how long did this last/

Hello On10n. My neutrophils have been low for more than 20 years. Long before I had methotrexate. 2.9 is good for me but they have gone below 1. My consultant has advised the local surgery(who dispense my prescriptions) to give me my methotrexate unless they go below one and in that case refer the results to her and she will make the decision. I think a low wbc is common with lupus.

Thank you for your Barbara17 very helpful and reassuring. My neutrophil count has been a steady 3 but recently dropped to between 1 and 1.5. I ceased MTX for 6 weeks but no increase. So have restarted a lower dose. Thank you for your help
