Hi all, I had the Moderna SpikeVax last month (5th jab) and certainly had some strong reactions (came off Methotrexate for a week before and after to give it a chance to work as well as it could, so that might have been a factor - but was v vax-type reactions)… but I think this article is about a new Vax targeting the new variant. Hurrah. Not sure I will get it til January in that case.. but hoping you’ll get this one asap, although most of you are probably in same spot..?? Best wishes, D

I'm trying to decide if to have the newer spikevax as had bad reaction to Moderna booster last December - had pfizer for spring booster... It's so hard to make an informed decision! Side effects from last December not completely subsided.

Hello there - well I had nasty time of it on the Moderna Spikevax, but I had the latest Pifzer bivalent vax last Thursday and I have to say, it was fine! I have have spent a bit more time of the loo, but not all night like last time, and none of the other issues. I was a very happy woman. Also, the nurses said that they are only giving out the Bivalent one currently, so not sue you'll get a choice. I hope it's that one anyway as is up to date as possible with the variants, and I think by all accounts not too awful side effect-wise. My friends were ok too, although they are generally healthy compared to me. So, good luck, and hope it all goes ok for you. D

I wait a reply from the covid info people to see if I can get not moderna at the vaccination centre - but it's quite a distance away - I don't drive but my dad can take me. moderna last December seems to have badly affected lymph nodes - not on side of injection site but on the other side, which reacts to everything. I still have pain in breast tissue and under arm and down the arm, but not like it was in Dec & Jan. It does hurt at night. Had breast screening scan thing, which is ok.

if I can't get something different I'm not sure what to do - take the risk that body won't be so bothered or as gp said, if I am already cautious, wearing mask etc then maybe ok for a bit ....

pfizer spring booster was fine. the 2 astra zeneca caused no reaction whatsoever, which surprised me. mind you this year's flu jab had minimal effect, normally not at all good for a few days.

Ahh I just did a bit of research and didn't realise that the Bivalent vac's can be Prizer or Moderna. Well, yes, the Moderna one previously (no bivalent) 5mths ago did not treat me well either. Sounds like you have had a very long time with side effects, sorry to hear that. I hope you get the answer you need ie a Pfizer Bivalent! All the best, D
