Side effects with upping azathioprine

Hi Everyone. I have had SLE diagnosed 2 years ago. Cutaneous lupus diagnosed recently. Still not managing to get things on an even keel despite having a very thorough and fab rheumatologist.

I have recently had a bad flare and had to up my steroids which I have managed to now get back to 5mg. This unfortunately seems to be my maintainable dose for now. I also take hydroxy 400mg a day and I have started azathioprine and am increasing it slowly. I have had 2 weeks on 25mg then upped to 50mg 6 days ago so still a low dose. The trouble is I am constantly hot. I dont mean just usual weather hot I mean horrendously hot although I don't have a temperature.

I could really do with knowing if this is normal or something i shsould be concerned about?. Have any of you other lovely people had a similar problem and if so what do I do about it and how long does it take to settle? I am getting desperate.

Apart from the heat nothing else too much to worry about ... I think but to be honest it feels.like problems are forming an orderly queue.

I took azathioprine and within hours of taking it I developed a fever,shook and was sick.This built up over a period of 3 weeks and it was an allergic reaction to it and it’s now on my notes ‘not to take it’.I think if it’s making you hot be alert to other symptoms and tell your rheumatology team asap as it’s a toxic drug!

Oh gosh thanks for that. I will definitely keep an eye on the other things better now. I was fine on 1 but this is on 2. Thank you for your advice x
