Hello I have had SLE for 30 years it is now in remission. Two years ago I started to lose my hair then developed task on my back arms and hands. Seen dermatologist had biopsies on head and been told it is discoid lupus. Does anyone else have this and do you know if you get hair regrowth.

Do you have a follow up appointment scheduled with your rheumatologist following this diagnosis? If not, then I would suggest calling your rheumatology department or nurse to confirm that they are aware and so that they can advise you.
I hope you find the above helpful but if we can assist further, do please let me know.
Hi wispaI have been diagnose with discoid lupus 5 years ago, my first symptom was hair loss. I've lost about 70 % of my hair very rapidly then my hair did grow back and fall again. I have tried some treatment {prp treatment and some hair loss oil treatment} it did help the growth of my hair a bit but not to his fullest and then fall again. Recently I have decided to shave all of it and just use oil,i can see some growth already but don't wont to get to excited yet as i don't know if it 's going to last, the good news tho it 's that i don't have any lesion or scar on my scalp due to discoid lupus so there is hope.
I suppose it is different for everyone, but go and see a hair loss specialist they will be able to see if you don't have any lesion on your scalp or else and advise on what you can do next.
Hi, I also have discoid lupus (4 years) and RA (12 years) I do get scalp lesions, general scalp soreness and at times hair thinning and total loss where the lesions are. But, I’m finding that once the lesion heals the hair does grow back. I’m on 100mg of azathioprine and a biologic, Abatacept. We are all different and react differently but I’ve found it’s manageable with sensitive scalp type shampoos, eucerin scalp ointment and my derm prescribed a steroid ointment.
