Cold or what!

Hi all,

Hoping it's not just me but has it all of a sudden just gone freezing! I'm changing colour every few minutes. Does anyone take anything for their Raynaud's? I've been given nifedipine 10mg. I never thought it worked much. I don't know if I maybe didn't try it for long enough. I tried to ask about it at my local rheumy appointment on Friday. She just told me you can take 5mg up to 3 times a day. Explained I have 10mg capsules but she did not give me any answers. Also asked when the best time to take it is but again no answer. I never go into their appointments expecting much. It was my first face to face with them in nearly 2 years and all I got was 5 minutes in the room and a see you next year.

Hi Lou lamb, no you’re not alone! I don’t take anything yet for raynaulds but out have come the extra warm gloves, hats, scarves, 2 pairs of socks and everything else to wrap up in. I look a bit odd walking round the house with gloves on 😁

Hi, I had extremely high blood pressure. I was given two different blood pressure tablets over 10 weeks. My blood pressure was still too high and my Reynauds was so bad so they gave me a third blood pressure tablet that he said often helps Reynauds. I took them and didn’t believe they worked but after about 5 weeks things did seem to help. Sadly I can’t remember which one it was but it has to be worth asking your GP. I bought a pair of bootee type sheepskin slippers on Amazon they cost about £40 and have a man made sole. They are amazing. I was a bit miffed that they were “old ladies slippers” but what the hell. They are machine washable. I wear them all the time at home as my feet get too cold in socks and shoes. I also have to have an electric blanket on at number 1 overnight to stop my feet getting too cold. Once they are cold it’s a terrible job getting them warm. I have even used the blanket through the summer, with the bed clothes folded in half down my body because the top it too hot. It’s a simple life eh!!!

Could it be Amlodipine? I have high blood pressure and when I started on it my Raynaud’s greatly diminished. I could finally shop on the frozen food section without gloves. My rheumatologist confirmed that Amlodipine was the difference.
