Well hello everyone š.I hope you are all as well as can be living alongside our Lupus āfriendā. I havenāt posted for a while as Iāve been trying to come to terms with my ānew lifeā since being diagnosed with ILD last year, going through treatment and having to take ill health retirement which wasnāt in my plan I have to say š¤¦āāļøš
Wellā¦.. Iāve been to the dentist for two fillings this morning š« and Iāve now got yet another worry.,. Iāve been referred to an oral surgeon because I have a white patch on the side of my tongue. Iām just wondering if this is in anyoneās experience? Iāve had three rounds of chemo and am currently taking mycophenolate and pred. My dentist said that itās not an urgent referral and try not to worry but how can you not? My mind has gone into overdrive again!
Take care everyone

I have attached an algorithm (courtesy of UpToDate) for how we think about white patch oral lesions. Could be any number of things. Many think cancer but unless youāve been chewing tobacco or smoking on a regular basis, it is very unlikely. Theyāll likely want to biopsy it. Good thing is the tongue is the fastest healing body part because itās so well vascularized.
I hope you find answers soon and am sending you many well wishes and warm hugs. ā¤ļøxx
Many thanks Jmiller623 for your reassuring reply š„° fingers crossed it is nothing as serious as Iām worrying about. I know this condition can be a result of Lupus inflammation so hopefully it maybe that. š¤warm wishes and hugs receivedā¦..thank you! š
Hi Heatheric, thank you for your reply. that was my thought too, especially after consulting the Lupus bible! Iāve got some oral antibiotics from when I had my treatment so think I may give them a go. Sue x
