Hi, has anyone with Lupus SLE tried the AIP diet and had any luck with their symptoms improving on it please? I’m 32 days into it and feel no benefits as of yet… feeling quite disheartened.

Thank you :)

Unfortunately, it worsened my lupus. I found out I was intolerant/maybe allergic to rice, which I was using as a healthy carb when eating wild rice and such.

Some people find great benefit from different elimination diets. There are known things that seem to set loopies off like garlic, onions, nightshade peppers. Some people can’t do alcohol.

Basically, we are all different and our tolerances vary widely. Im sure someone can weigh in on timeline until you see effects but I’d think a month would be enough to garner if it helps or not.

Sending well wishes and hugs. ❤️xx

I’m trying it now. It’s not working very well for me but I have a problem with histamine and a lot of the gut healing foods are high in histamine. I was already on a low histamine anti-inflammatory diet (mainly by accident through breastfeeding my allergy baby) and I did find a lot of improvements through that. I have a theory that lupus and MCAS are somehow intrinsically linked (the symptoms and rashes can be very similar) so might be worth looking up the sighi low histamine diet instead. I would also look at light exposure and chemicals in shower products/soaps etc! My malar rash and pain levels are linked with light exposure but I didn’t realise until I started using factor 50 everyday even in the house and a hat outside.

Hi. the AIP I did was awful for me. I had my normal bloods done and the nurse rang up to say lupus had got worse white blood cells were too low, and asked what I was doing differently. I Stopped the diet straight away.Try a vegan diet with as much fruit, veg and legumes as possible, its been the best diet for me. Lol I'm sure I've tried all the "miracle" cures out there, but unfortunately there's no cure for lupus.

saying there is, is a great way for them to sell their books, I've just taken all my miracle cures books to the charity shop.

All the best x
